At Holy Family, we understand that in the midst of busy lives, it can be difficult for a woman to prioritize her own health care needs. That is why our Breast Care Center is designed for convenience and comfort, while offering the best in diagnostic services.
Flexible appointments are available; including evening and Saturday hours. A private entrance allows for quick access to the center, and patients are provided changing rooms to prepare for their mammogram, which is performed by a female technician.
Our multidisciplinary Breast Care Center team includes radiologists, cytopathologists, and specialized surgeons, all of whom are board-certified. Our female mammography technologists have all undergone special training and have advanced certification in mammography from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART). In addition, our sensitive and helpful support staff is always on hand to answer any questions or concerns.
The use of advanced technology allows us to offer women of all ages the best in screening and diagnostic services, including low-dose mammography, ultrasound, and stereotactic and ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration and core biopsy. At Holy Family, our goal is to utilize the best technology to insure early detection, the key to successful treatment.
All women in their 20s and 30s should have a breast exam as part of their regular health checkups at least every three years. After the age of 40, have a breast exam every year. All women should perform monthly breast exams.
Women at greater risk of breast cancer should have a breast care schedule designed by their physician. Risk factors include a previous history of breast cancer, family history of breast cancer, or a precancerous breast condition. In addition, a woman should see her doctor immediately if she experiences any breast changes, or any of the following warning signs: a lump or thickening in the breast or armpit; puckering, dimpling or other breast skin changes; a retracted nipple; or bleeding or discharge from the nipple.
Mammogram appointments can be scheduled by calling central scheduling at 978-722-3800. If you have additional questions or would like assistance from a member of the Breast Care Center staff, please call 978-686-6492 or 978-687-0156 ext. 4179.
