Merrimack Valley Hospital Announces 2nd Annual Symposium on Wound Care

On October 26, 2013 Merrimack Valley Hospital and will hold its 2nd annual Symposium on Wound Care at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill.

This year the focus of the conference is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Speakers and topics are:
Walter Kwass, MD:  Introduction and Overview of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Dr. Kwass is a Steward Medical Group vascular surgeon and medical director of the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center at Merrimack Valley Hospital.

Vera Cooke, DDS, MD:  The use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Osteoradionecrosis. Dr. Cooke is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Newburyport Oral Surgery.

Tammy Dingman, CHT: Managing Risks and Complications of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.  Tammy is Merrimack Valley Hospital’s Certified Hyperbaric Technician.

Micah Hemani, MD: The Use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Management and Treatment of Radiation Induced Cystitis. Dr. Hemani is a Steward Medical Group Urologist from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston.

The conference will be held in the David Hartleb Technology Center at Northern Essex Community College, 100 Elliott St. in Haverhill, MA from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. The cost is $25 and includes breakfast beverages, lunch, and 3.5 continuing education credits for nurses and physicians. The conference is open to the public.
