On April 17 Merrimack Valley Hospital will hold its 2nd annual Symposium on Wound Care at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill.
This year the focus of the conference is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Walter Kwass, MD, who will give and introduction and overview of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy; how it began, where we are now and what the future holds. Dr. Kwass is a Steward Medical Group vascular surgeon and medical director of the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center at Merrimack Valley Hospital.
Vera Cooke, DDS, MD, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Newburyport Oral Surgery, will speak about the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for osteoradionecrosis.
Tammy Dingman, CHT (certified hyperbaric technician), will speak about management of risks and complications of hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Micah Hemani, MD, a Steward Medical Group Urologist from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, will speak about the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in management and treatment of radiation induced cystitis.
The conference will be held in the David Hartleb Technology Center from 12 to 5 p.m. The cost is $25, which includes lunch as well as 3.5 continuing education credits for nurses and physicians. The conference is open to the public.
